The Board of Directors of Friends of the Choral Society is proud to announce The John Maclay 20th Anniversary Fund.

Join us in our drive to raise $20,000 by 2020 to honor our maestro’s 20th anniversary and strengthen our community of singers and listeners.

Under John Maclay’s leadership, The Choral Society has become one of New York’s most admired choral arts organizations, bringing masterworks to life for thousands of listeners.

Throughout, John’s vision of musical excellence has been both expansive and generous:

“I have always seen choral singing as a way to galvanize an entire community. A large volunteer chorus like ours is a living example of unity drawn from diversity. The process of making music requires trust, good will, critical thinking, hard work, and above all, optimism. We need these qualities in all of our communities, all of the time.”

The 20th Anniversary Fund will help achieve three key goals for our organization:

  • Access — Expanding our listenership through strategic planning, development, and outreach efforts

  • Excellence — Championing great choral music in collaboration with New York’s finest orchestra players and soloists

  • Inclusivity — Keeping participation affordable for our listeners as well as our singers

We are very excited to report that The Marta Heflin Foundation will match all donations received by October 31, 2019 dollar for dollar, up to a total of $5,000! Please consider making your gift while this match is in effect.

The drive to establish this important capacity-building Fund will continue through December 31, 2019. Contributions to the Fund are 100% tax-deductible, and will be recognized in our upcoming concert programs. Contributions to the Fund can be made using the secure payment links below or sending a check payable to "Friends of the Choral Society" to 140 Cabrini Boulevard, Apt. 38, New York, NY 10033.
