The Choral Society is a 155-voice ensemble of experienced professional and avocational singers who volunteer their time and talents in the service of the choral art form. Inspired by a longstanding community outreach of Grace Church, the Choral Society was founded in 1999 as an independent, non-sectarian choral arts organization under music director John Maclay, who is in his twenty-fourth season with the group. Supported by some of New York’s finest freelance orchestra players, the Choral Society’s concerts are designed to bring the arts directly to the community through the uniquely inclusive medium of choral singing. The New York Sun claims that in a number of recent hearings no other chorus in town “has been even close to the level of professionalism of this strictly volunteer group. This choir expertly combines the two most important tools in a singer’s armamentarium: discipline and passion.”  To contact us, join our mailing list here or send an email to choralsociety@mac.com.
